A Love Story Framed by Vineyards & Ocean Air

Celebrate your wedding surrounded by rolling vineyards, breathtaking gardens, and elegant countryside estates designed for unforgettable moments. From intimate ceremonies to grand celebrations, Benguela Cove Weddings offers romantic settings, exceptional hospitality, and experiences that turn your special day into a story you will treasure for a lifetime.

Walker Bay, South Africa

You already know the wine. Now come and see where it comes from.

Benguela Cove Estate sits on the edge of a lagoon at Walker Bay, on South Africa's southern coast. The Antarctic Benguela Current sweeps cold water along the coastline, cooling the vineyards, extending the growing season, and giving the wines the freshness and precision that have made them some of the most awarded in the country.

It also makes the estate one of the most beautiful places in the world to be. There is no licensing requirement for ceremonies in South Africa. Any setting on the estate can be yours — vineyard terraces with lagoon views, the grounds of Benguela Manor, the cellar door, the jetty, the water's edge.

The estate accommodates your wedding party across twelve villas and the Manor itself, so the people who matter most to you wake up on the morning of your wedding exactly where the celebration is.

Ceremony & Reception

Every setting on the estate, available to you.

Because South Africa requires no ceremony licence, every setting on the estate is available to you. Couples have married on the vineyard terraces with the lagoon behind them, in the grounds of Benguela Manor, on the jetty at the water's edge, in the barrel cellar, and on the open lawns in the evening when the Benguela wind drops.

We will help you find the setting that fits your vision and if you have not visited yet, we will walk you through the options before you decide.

No licence required

South Africa has no ceremony licensing requirement.

Any setting on the estate can be yours vineyard, jetty, cellar, lawn, or Manor grounds.

Food & Wine

Built around the estate and the region.

The wedding menu is built around the estate and the region. South Africa's southern coast produces exceptional seafood, lamb, and seasonal produce, and the Benguela Cove kitchen works with local suppliers to create menus that feel entirely of the place.

Every glass poured at your wedding is a Benguela Cove wine made by Johann Fourie from grapes grown on the estate you are standing on. For couples who wish to include Leonardslee Family Vineyards English sparkling wine in the toast bringing a glass of Sussex into a South African celebration that is something we can arrange.

Planning from the UK

A team you can trust.

We understand that planning a wedding from a different country requires trust in the team on the ground. Our events coordinator at Benguela Cove handles all estate logistics and works directly with our UK contact point throughout the planning process.

We recommend at least one site visit before the wedding most couples combine this with a villa stay and a cellar door experience and we can help build that into your planning timeline.

The Benguela Cove story

For couples who first encountered Benguela Cove at Leonardslee or Mannings Heath, a South African destination wedding is the natural conclusion of the story. Some of our couples hold a celebration at Leonardslee for UK friends and family who cannot make the journey, and the ceremony itself at Walker Bay. We can help coordinate both — and the two events become part of the same story.
