Secrets of Sauvignon Blanc

Unlock the secrets of Sauvignon Blanc

Popular and unmistakable white wine that's enjoyed for its herbal flavours and racy acidity. A variety of Sauvignon Blanc wines can be found almost everywhere, ranging from lean to bountiful.

What type of Sauvignon Blanc can we expect from Benguela Cove?

Around and to the south of Cape Town, the region is blessed with rich soils and coastal winds that keep the temperatures cool. Many characteristics of New Zealand wines are evident in Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa - zesty, grassy, and loaded with grapefruit flavour.

What can you expect from one of our winemakers' favourite grape varietals?

On the nose:

A glass of this wine will bring back childhood memories of preserved green figs. The aromas of grapefruit and gunflint are joined with notes of sweet tropical fruit and lemon candy.

On the plate:

Aromas of lemongrass and pineapple are carried through on the palate, along with a racy acidity.

How to make the most of your Sauvignon Blanc?

The acidity invites big flavours, but don't forget to accompany it with a creamy element.

A Winemaker note on our Sauvignon Blanc:

“This wine is the epiphany of this cool climate. It follows in the quality footsteps of its predecessors, delivering on that Old World minerality and length with hints of New World fruit and texture on the palate.”

- Johann Fourie
