Our Wines And Stories: Benguela Cove Méthode Cap Classique
South Africa’s Finest MCC
Benguela Cove produces two stylistically different Méthode Cap Classique wines to cater to a diverse group of consumers: Joie de Vivre and Cuvée58.
Both MCC’s honour fruit purity and balance with characters that are coherent with the cool climate estate where this fruit is harvested, processed and bottled.
With the cool Walker Bay being renowned for sauvignon blanc, this grape was an obvious choice to create an MCC that could be differentiated from their top tier MCC, Joie de Vivre, a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir.
Joie De Vivre
A classic, elegant MCC made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The French translation of the name - the exuberant enjoyment of life – is exhibited in its vibrant intensity. Aromas of nougat, lime and brioche etch its bubbly character. Lingering mineral tones complement the fine mousse with aromas of red apple and nutty flavours lingering on the palate.
Cuvée58
This method cap Classique allures with vivid aromas of candied apple, pear and sweet grass. The bright acidity is balanced with a tangy finish, concluded with a fresh floral note. With a name that celebrates the facets of a diamond, sauvignon blanc was a clear-cut choice to lead this refreshing MCC. Reflecting the precision that both the diamond cutter and the winemaker apply to their craft; this wine is light yet luminous with enough gravitas to pour at any celebratory occasion.
